Why Dryer Vent Cleaning Matters
Reduce Your Fire Risk
Dryer fires are more common than most people realize. According to the National Fire Protection Association, U.S. fire departments respond to nearly 16,000 home fires involving dryers each year. The vast majority are caused by lint buildup.
This business started in 2017 after multiple dryer fires in one week in Urbana, MD. We still see dryer fires regularly. A clean vent is your first line of defense.
Speed Up Drying Times
A clogged vent restricts airflow. Your dryer can’t push moisture out efficiently, so clothes take two or three cycles to dry. After a cleaning, most customers see their dryers work much faster.
Save Money on Energy
The longer your dryer runs, the more electricity or gas you use. A clean vent means shorter cycles and lower utility bills.
Extend Your Dryer's Life
When your dryer overheats from restricted airflow, components fail. Thermal fuses blow. Heating elements burn out. Regular vent cleaning prevents the conditions that cause expensive repairs.
Don't Buy a New Dryer Yet
Frustrated with your dryer? Before you spend money on a new one, have the vent cleaned. In most cases, a dryer that takes forever to dry or shuts off early just needs a clean vent. New dryers won’t perform any better if they’re connected to a clogged vent. We perform dryer repair services as well.
Signs Your Dryer Vent Needs Cleaning
Clothes Taking Multiple Cycles to Dry
If you’re running two or three cycles to dry a single load, the vent is restricting airflow. This is the most common sign of a clog.
Dryer Running Hot
A clogged vent traps heat inside the dryer. If your clothes come out unusually hot or the dryer feels like it’s working harder than it should, the vent is likely restricted. However, sometimes this is a dryer problem. We can fix overheating dryers too.
Dryer Not Heating at All
When a dryer gets too hot, safety thermostats cut power to the heater. If the thermal fuse on the heater blows, the dryer runs but won’t heat. This usually means the vent has been clogged for a while. You need a dryer not heating repair and a vent cleaning. We do both in one visit.
Dryer Not Starting
Some dryers have a second thermal fuse that cuts power to the motor entirely. A clogged vent can cause this, but so can other issues like a broken belt or faulty door switch. You need a dryer won’t start repair and a vent cleaning. We do both in one visit.
Dryer Alarm Codes
Many modern dryers have sensors that detect restricted airflow. LG calls it “Flow Sense” and displays codes like D80, D90, or D95—indicating how badly the vent is clogged. Samsung has similar codes (C80, C90). Whirlpool, Maytag, and GE dryers show a “Check Vent” light or AF Code.
These warnings typically don’t trigger until the vent is significantly restricted—take them seriously. The dryer is telling you it can’t breathe.
Humid or Steamy Inside the Drum
Some humidity is normal, but if it’s excessively steamy inside the dryer or you see heavy condensation on the door, the moisture has nowhere to go.
Hot and Humid in the Laundry Room
If your laundry room gets hot and humid when the dryer runs, the transition duct may be disconnected or torn. This can happen when a clogged vent creates back pressure that pushes the duct apart. we can repair your transition duct also.
Vent Flap Not Opening
If the exterior vent flap barely moves or doesn’t open at all when the dryer runs, the vent is clogged or the flap is jammed with lint. We can repair the dryer exhaust cover if necessary.
Lint Behind the Dryer
This is a serious warning sign. Lint behind the dryer means the transition duct is leaking. That lint gets pulled into your dryer’s intake vents and accumulates around the heating element—the leading cause of dryer fires.
We disassemble and clean dryers internall to remove that dangerous lint buildup.
Burning Smell
If you smell something burning when the dryer runs, lint may be accumulating inside the dryer around the heater. Stop using the dryer and have it inspected. We can internally clean and repair burning smells in dryers.

How We Clean Dryer Vents
Full-Length Cleaning with Rotary Brushes
We clean the entire length of your dryer vent using rotary brushes and a powerful vacuum/blower. Lint sticks to the duct walls—it has to be mechanically scrubbed before air will move it. Companies that show up with just a shop vac or leaf blower aren’t actually cleaning anything.
We Clean from the Inside Out
We mostly clean from the laundry room side and verify the brush travels the full length of the vent. This lets us inspect the transition duct—the most common failure point. If you clean from the outside only, you might damage or loosen the transition duct and actually create a situation where lint leaks out and can get sucked back into the dryer and collect near the heater—a serious fire hazard. Not only is this more thorough, we don’t blow lint all over your yard.
Transition Duct Inspection
We check the duct connecting your dryer to the wall for damage, disconnection, or improper materials. If it’s leaking lint, we’ll let you know. We can replace it on the same visit if needed. Because leaking transition ducts are the most common cause of dryer fires, Leaking transition ducts are the most common cause of dryer fires—we make sure yours is in good shape with airtight connections. We can replace your transition duct if necessary.
Exterior Vent Cover Inspection
Most dryer vent problems start at the cover. Clogged screens, stuck flaps, and bird nests are the primary causes of backed-up vents. We make sure the cover is clean and working properly—even if that means going on your roof or into your attic.
Roof Vent Cleaning
Roof vents are more problematic than wall vents. You can’t see them, the covers clog easily, and they’re difficult to clean properly. We clean roof vents from the roof when possible, which lets us thoroughly clean the cover and flap by hand. The sun really bakes the lint crust on there.
A roof vent isn’t properly cleaned unless the cover and flap are cleaned too—and that can only be done from the roof or attic. Sending a brush up there won’t do the trick.

You don’t get to access this area often. We make sure it’s clean before we leave.

Beyond the Vent—Dryer Cleaning Service
Dryer vent cleaning reduces fire risk, but it doesn’t eliminate it. All the dryer fires we’ve seen have been caused by lint buildup inside the dryer itself—on and around the heating element.
Lint gets inside the dryer two ways: internal leakage past seals, and lint from behind the dryer getting sucked into the intake vents. Over time, it accumulates where it can ignite.
We offer a full dryer cleaning service where we disassemble the dryer and clean the interior components—heater, fan, lint trap housing, motor, and intake vents. We recommend this every five years, or immediately if you see lint buildup around the intake vents on the back of your dryer.
