When Does a Dryer Vent Need to Be Replaced?
Non Code-Compliant Materials
Some older vents were built with materials that no longer meet code—or never did. Flexible (vinyl and foil) and semi rigid (aluminum) ducts running through walls and ceilings are fire hazards because a dryer fire can burn through them and light the structural beams on fire. These materials also create airflow restrictions and can break during cleaning. If your vent was built with the wrong materials, replacement is the safest option.
The Vent Is Too Long or Has Too Many Bends
Building code limits total equivalent vent length, and every 90-degree turn adds resistance. If your vent exceeds these limits, your dryer will never perform well—no amount of cleaning will fix a design problem.
The Existing Ductwork Is Rotting or Deteriorating
In older homes, we often find original ductwork that’s rusted through, separating at seams, or damaged by years of moisture. Patching these vents is a temporary fix at best. Replacement is the long-term solution.
Repairs Would Cost More Than Replacement
When a vent has multiple problems—disconnected sections, crushed ducts, damaged terminations, code violations—it’s often more cost-effective to start fresh with a properly designed system. If you just need a dryer vent repair, we can do that too.
You're Renovating or Adding On
New laundry rooms, home additions, and renovations often require new vent runs. If you’re extending through an addition or moving your washer and dryer, you’ll need a vent that works with the new layout.
What Sets Our Installations Apart
We Specialize in Dryer Vents
This is all we do. We’re not a general handyman or HVAC company fitting dryer vents in between other jobs. We’ve installed hundreds of vents and have seen every possible configuration.
We Evaluate All Options First
Before cutting any holes, we assess your home and discuss the options. Where can the vent go? What’s the shortest, most efficient route? How do we minimize drywall work? We find creative solutions that work for your home and your budget.
Attic and Difficult Access Experience
Many dryer vents run through attics, crawlspaces, roofs and tight spaces. We have extensive experience working in these areas and the equipment to do it safely—including manlifts for vents up to 4th and 5th story exteriors.
We Cut Through Anything
Brick, concrete block, vinyl siding, aluminum siding—we have the tools and experience to terminate your vent wherever it needs to go.
Code-Compliant Installation
We know the International Residential Code requirements: proper duct materials, screwed connections, correct support intervals, sealed seams, and maximum equivalent length. Every installation meets code.
Efficiency-Focused Design
We minimize 90-degree bends wherever possible, where they must be used we try to use larger radius turns if we can. We design for airflow—not just convenience.
Magnetic Dryer Vent Covers
We install powder-coated magnetic vent covers that look better than standard builder-grade covers. They seal tight to keep birds out, come in multiple colors, and make it easier to clean the vent, particularly for vents 3 stories up and higher. HOAs almost always approve them because they look cleaner than caged or louvered covers.
Dryer Box Installation
We install recessed dryer boxes that sit inside the wall, allowing your dryer to sit flush against the wall without crushing the transition duct.
Dryer Modifications When Needed
Sometimes making a vent work requires modifying the dryer itself. We can reconfigure most dryers to exhaust from the side instead of the back, and we can flip dryer doors to open the opposite direction—helpful when we need to swap washer and dryer positions.
Duct Insulation
For ducts running through uninsulated spaces spaces like attics or crawlspaces, we insulate the ductwork to prevent condensation. Moisture inside the duct attracts lint and accelerates clogging.
Minimal Disruption
We plan our routes to minimize drywall cuts and disruption to your home. When we do need to open walls or ceilings, we patch it up when we’re done.
